Gwendolyn V. Smith Scholarship Application
The Greater Nashville Alliance of Black School Educators (GNABSE) is a group of dedicated professional educators organized to promote and facilitate the education of all students, Black students in particular. The GWENDOLYN V. SMITH GNABSE Scholarship is awarded to students of African American descent to promote the mission of enabling high academic achievement. Several scholarships will be awarded. The available scholarship amount is $1000.
The criteria for selection include:
* ACT / SAT / PSAT or other education scores * Letters of recommendation * Aptitude of teaching experiences with school age children or community service * Essay * Financial need * Cumulative grade point average * Intent to pursue a major in education
APPLICATION PROCESS
Submit a completed application along with the following:
- At least two letters of recommendation from a principal, teacher, college professor, or counselor
- A transcript of all coursework
- A copy of test scores, i.e., ACT, SAT, other education scores, etc. with school counselor authorization
- One page essay about a deceased African American educator who has made outstanding contributions to the city of Nashville
- A statement of intentionality to pursue a career in education
